BOOM Esports Claim Victory at ESL One: Road to Rio – South America
The Brazilian squad BOOM Esports has emerged victorious in the South American division of ESL One: Road to Rio. In the event’s grand finals they defeated the Argentinian team Isurus with the 2-0 score, claiming $6,000 in prize money and 1600 RMR-points.
ESL One: Road to Rio – South America was held on April 22nd – 26th and featured four teams competing for a $10,000 prize pool and 5800 major qualification points. First, they competed in a single round-robin format group, and then top team advanced to the grand finals, while the next two teams made it to the semifinals. All series were best-of-three.
BOOM Esports placed first in the group after defeating RED Canids (2-1), Isurus (2-0) and Imperial e-Sports (2-0). In the grand finals they outplayed their opponents at Nuke (16:6) and Mirage (22:19).
ESL One: Road to Rio is the first Regional Major Rankings (RMR) tournament, the results of which will determine the participants of ESL One: Rio 2020, the only major CS:GO event of this year.
