Captains Draft 4.0: Preview of the First Minor Tournament of the Year

The first minor tournament of the year is about to start, as eight teams have already arrived in Washington, DC, to compete for a $300,000 prize pool and the qualifier points towards The International 2018.

Captains Draft 4.0 is a minor tournament organized by DotaCinema and Moonduck, which will be held at DC Armory on January 4-7. The main feature of the event is that the games are played in Captains Draft mode – teams will be restricted to 27 randomly selected, it is also possible that the teams will be able to pick those heroes which are not yet available in Captains Mode. The tournament features two invited (Evil Geniuses, Team Secret) and six qualified teams (complexity Gaming, paiN Gaming, OG, Team Empire, Vici Gaming, Mineski) which were placed in two groups of four with a GSL format and best-of-one matches. The results of the group stage will determine the seeding in the single-elimination playoffs bracket. The quarterfinals and semi-finals are best-of-three, the grand final is best-of-five.
