ESL Pro League Season 12 Announced

ESL Pro League has been announced to return with its 12th season on September 2nd. The event will last for four weeks and feature 24 teams competing for a $750,000 prize pool.

Considering the uncertainty in the global epidemiologic situation, the organizers have two options for the event. If possible, the tournament will be played as a LAN in a studio. The location has not been disclosed. However, should travels not be possible, the league will be played online, being divided into five regional leagues: Europe, North America, Asia, Oceania, and South America.

A large part of the 24-teams line-up will consist of partner teams, among which are 100 Thieves, Astralis, Complexity, ENCE, Evil Geniuses, FaZe Clan, Fnatic, G2 Esports, Mousesports, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Liquid and Team Vitality. Among other confirmed participants are Renegades, Sharks and BOOM Esports, who were invited to Season 11 and were unable to participate due to travel restrictions.

Another six participants will be determined through regional qualifiers: two teams from Europe and one team from each North America, South America, Oceania and Asia. The rest of the teams will advance from Mountain Dew League.

The league’s previous season was initially planned to be played this March in Malta, however later was transitioned to online and split into two regions, Europe and North America. Fnatic managed to place first in the European league, while Team Liquid emerged victorious in the American division. The organizers reported that the eleventh season had the highest viewership numbers in the history of the league.
