G2 Esports Are the Champions of LEC Summer 2019
G2 Esports have emerged victorious at LEC Summer 2019, claiming € 80,000 in prize money and securing their place at the upcoming World Championship 2019. In the grand finals they outplayed Fnatic in a close game – the series concluded 3-2.
Being the leaders of the group stage, G2 Esports started the playoffs from the winners’ finals, where they defeated Fnatic 3-2, who later in the lower bracket outplayed FC Schalke 04 Esports (3-0). In the grand finals G2 Esports managed to replicate the success by ending the series with the 3-2 score.
LEC Summer 2019 was played between June 7th and September 8th. First, 10 teams competed in a single group with double round robin format and best-of-one series. Then top two teams advanced to the upper bracket, while the teams placed 3rd-6th started in the lower bracket. All playoffs matches were best-of-five. The prize pool was set at € 200,000.
