Team Secret Win Their Second DreamLeague Event in a Row
The European team led by Clement "Puppey" Ivanov managed to win their second DreamLeague event. In the ninth season’s grand finals Team Secret defeated Fnatic 3-0, receiving $125,000 in prize money and 150 DPC Points.
The minor tournament DreamLeague Season 9 was held on March 21-25 in Stockholm, Sweden. Two teams – Team Secret and Team Liquid – were directly invited based on the Dota Pro Circuit rankings. The other six teams had to make it through the regional qualifiers – OG qualified from Europe, Team Empire from CIS, Newbee from China, Fnatic from Southeast Asia, Immortals from North America and paiN Gaming from South America.
The participating teams were placed into a single-elimination playoffs bracket, with regular matches being best-of-three and grand finals being best-of-five. Team Secret made it all the way through the upper bracket without losing a single map, defeating 2-0 Team Empire, Newbee and Team Liquid. As for Fnatic, they outplayed OG (2-0) in the quarterfinals, but later dropped to the lower bracket after losing 1-2 to Team Liquid in the semifinals. In the loser’s bracket they outplayed Team Empire (2-0), Newbee (2-1) and Team Liquid (2-0). In the grand finals Team Secret looked far stronger than their opponents and managed to close the series 3-0, finishing their tournament run with the 9-0 map score.

Earlier Team Secret placed first at the previous DreamLeague event – DreamLeague Season 8. In the grand finals of major tournament they defeated Team Liquid and received $500,000 and 750 qualification points.
