Call of Duty League Matches to be Played Online
Activision Blizzard Esports have decided to hold the upcoming matches of Call of Duty League online. The league will return to city-based competition with live audience when it’s “safe and logistically possible”.
Call of Duty League was announced last October and launched in January. The teams have had the time to play in four competitive weeks with matches being played in Minneapolis, London, Atlanta and Los Angeles. The current leaders of the league are Atlanta FaZe and Chicago Huntsmen, both of them having a 9-1 score. They are followed by Dallas Empire (7-5), Minnesota ROKKR (7-4), and Paris Legion (5-4).
Earlier a handful of esports events were either postponed or moved to online due to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. For example, ESL decided to held the regular season of ESL Pro League 11 online and postpone ESL One Los Angeles 2020, while RIOT Games moved Mid-Season Invitational from May to July.
